A path divided.
That once was straight.
Some choosing our destinies.
Others believing in fate.
Some of us growing.
From the places where we were planted.
Some using excuses.
To take life for granted.
We've traveled together on this frequented road.
High school is a journey.
A road full of bends and twists.
Full of choosing and of learning.
From our freshmen year.
To our college start.
From copying papers.
To breaking hearts.
From hours spent pondering.
The mysteries of life.
To needing held by our friends.
Just to feel alive.
From days void of light.
To excessive sunshine beams.
Knowing we'd have someone.
With which to share our dreams.
From tears full of joy.
To tears lacking hope.
Friendship lighting the dark.
A bond to ensure we cope.
Nearly sinking in the ocean.
But grabbing another's hand.
And through each other's hope.
Finding strength to stand.
Free melodic laughter.
with the spirit to go along.
Our heart beats adjusting.
To match life's song.
Running from there pasts.
While chasing the dreams of a friend.
Victoriously katching those brilliant stars.
And presenting the world to them.
Despite who we were.
Or who we'll grow to be.
We'll feel each other's sadness.
And indulge in each other's glee.
For anyone on this stage.
I'd give everything I have.
And if they need me years from now.
I'd gladly retravel that path.
And if their heart needs a place to rest.
I'd open the doors of my own.
I'd take midnight red-eye flight.
To prevent them from dealing alone.
It doesn't matter where we go.
Or where we all have been.
We will always stand united.
As the class of 2010.
Omg that was really pretty.
I love both, but specially the first one. Very sensitive Kayla.
This is a perfect poem for any graduation. I love how you point out all the emotions often experienced throughout high school.

very good... and so true..
Kayla, I love this poem. It made me cry while reading it; you hit the emotions of high school, the things we all had to go through in the years of growing up, and how we all should take charge of our lives. That's wonderful. Keep it up. :)
